ATTACK
"All transport is secure, but we may be called upon to help evac the city if flooding occurs," a tech hollered at Fury to be heard over the wind and rain lashing outside the shatterdome doors. Nick nodded, squinting as figures still scurried over the deck, buffeted around and in danger of being swept into the sea.
"Just make sure we have enough for Jaeger transport," he instructed and the tech nodded and hurried away. Fury lingered a moment longer, glaring out at the torrent, the sky lit by arcs of lightning before it went dark again. He couldn't even see out to the water, and ask suspected the storm was interfering with their instruments. Generators had kept the Shatterdome's power on, but the city was not faring so well. An alarm sounded behind him and Nick turned away from the storm and headed for LOCCENT where, as he'd anticipated, a different kind of storm was rising.
A loudspeaker announcement was already calling a Jaeger team to scramble before he reached the control room.
"Sir!" an officer announced when he entered. "Double event. Second Kaiju signature rising." The information on the screens flickered with each distant rumbled of thunder. The two Kaiju were already out of the breach, they should have been able to detect these signatures sooner if not for the hurricane.
"Send out another te-" Fury began but stopped as another blinking line of data appeared. And then another.
"More Kaiju are breaching!" the officer's voice rose.
"The first seem to be heading for us," a second officer announced, a note of panic in his voice.
"All teams to their Jaegers," Fury commanded and then grabbed the mic to repeat the command, his voice sounding throughout the Shatterdome.
"Marshall, there's a fifth, a sixth-" The panic was clear now. "Seven. Eight." The displays crackled, the lights overhead blinked off and on. When the display came back into focus, there were even more Kaiju breaching.
"Protect your Shatterdome," Fury barked into the mic. "Protect this city."
