RULES
There is one reason that this rpg has rules and it's because RPGs should be fun. It's only fun when there's a minimal amount of disasters and things are easy to understand. Rules also make it fun for me because I won't get a lot of headaches and have to feel guilty for modthwapping people because they don't follow the rules.
O N E Although this rpg takes place in an AU setting please stay as true to your character's canon as possible. This means that while it is perfectly acceptable to adapt your character to how you see that character, that does not mean that you can make Hermione into some sexual goddess, or Malfoy into the sort of boy who is polite to Ron.
T W O While I'm not a grammar!nazi (because I'm not all that great at the activity), I do get irked about spelling. Please try to at least spell words correctly. Also, make sure your sentences make a bit of sense. I don't want to have to cry at another "I am realized you are okay." DO NOT use any kind of emoticon, "leet" speak, *action* thing, ectera. I'll berate you if you do. Also no Americanisation, the characters you will play are British.
T H R E E As I said RPing should be fun so making your character update his or her journal shouldn't become some chore that you absolutely hate doing. I'd like if everyone updated their character's journal ONCE a week but I understand that sometimes real life interferes with the online life. So at the maximum, please, update at least once every two weeks. After three weeks, you'll get a warning; if you don't update within a week of that warning, you will be removed from the game. All players are expected to participate in the game as much as possible. If you only ever update after you've had a warning (ie, monthly updates), you will be removed from the game. No if, ands, or buts about it. This is the one rule I will be vigilant about. I must be informed if for some reason any player will be unable to post for a prolonged length of time.
F O U R All forms of relationships are welcome – slash or het but please be realistic, not every male is gay. Please make sure that all logs are labeled appropriately with warnings and a rating, and that the relationships stay true to character. For example, a relationship between Harry and Draco is only feasible if there is actual plot leading up to it.
F I V E Try to keep the RPG from becoming too ship-orientated. I understand that lots of people want to join RPGs in order to act out their OTPs, but I would prefer all ships to involve real, thought out plot. I would like players to be able to plan their own mini-plots but all major plot arcs must be run past me for approval before being put into effect.
S I X Please use the communities responsibly. This means all that anything from owls, notes, memos, and party invitations to RP logs, and RP threads need to be housed in our_house. Every ooc post needs to be in oh_ooc. ALL OOC POSTS MUST BE LOCKED. Journal entries need to be in the characters journals.
Entries should be written from a first person POV at all times. RPs and character ficlets to be written in third person. Entries in this game aren't just entries, by that I mean you can make it a random note, a memo, a post-it note detailing the gruesome death someone will suffer if they touch your pie. To do this all you need to do is label your 'journal' entry as to what kind of actual medium it is. RP Logs and threads can also be used as different mediums also. Phone convos, or just basic dialogue convos in comments or an actual RP can be done.
S E V E N Only one character per player will be allowed. This stops the "gene pool" (meaning character interaction, etc) from becoming stagnant.
E I G H T Your character cannot read other people's private messages or strikeouts.
N I N E Please use the subject lines of the posts. This will help me when I do the memories thing. You could use the following keywords to label your post in our_house (and you could tag your entries with the same words);
Phone Mini RP RP log/thread Memo/Post-It Note the name of your character
Anything longer than four paragraphs should be cut and have this at the beginning of the post;
Who: Where: When: Rating:
T E N Finally, do not piss me off or irritate me. This will make my bloodlust surface and I have many ideas on how to kill characters. :)
NO SMUTTING WITH YOURSELF!
