Don't get your knickers in a twist! We're just three kindly old spinster ladies.
Halloween is just around the corner so let's talk our yearly Halloween stuff and things. I've got a general premise, but haven't hammered out the details. I figure we can get them filled in here. Okay so, premise is these portals randomly appear and whether you decide to step on through or get too close and get sucked in (or just completely ignore them and go about your day's errands so that your character doesn't have to participate if you don't want them to), you end up in a horror movie. Or rather, a horror movie 'genre'. The chat's been really stupid about letting me scroll back so I can't go look at the ideas we came up with before but I know there was stuff like slasher, aliens, evil dolls, ghosts, vampires, creatures, anything you can think of. The format will be a main post and then different threads of each genre within the post. We just have some stuff we need to figure out.
-Actual repercussions: I was thinking the easiest way to go about it is that this horror world place is really created within your character's heads, they're making it happen based on horror movies and tropes and stuff they've seen. That way if you got your eyes gouged out or your head hacked off there, it doesn't carry back over. You will still have the pain and the real sensations and feelings to scar you mentally and emotionally forever, your limbs will just be intact.
-The bad guys: With stuff like ghosts or whatever sometimes what you're not seeing is more scary and it's easy to just be like "and that candle levitated and so and so got thrown against the wall" since you're not really up against something tangible. I was thinking with things like slashers and monsters and, really, supporting cast we could fill out our cast of characters for each other. Like that big green scary monster chasing you through the forest is the Hulk, that vampire inviting you into his castle for dinner is Jasper (too easy), that creepy little doll trying to kill you looks a lot like Nick Fury. So our people would still be themselves doing their own thing in different scenarios but could also pop up as various 'characters' in other horror worlds (like what_if stuff within the actual game :D). Which if it was in their heads would make sense because it makes sense that people have a healthy fear of the Hulk or could imagine Wanda as a creepy witch or Tony as a mad scientist. It's kind of fueled by their own fears, putting the people in their lives in these scary roles. Idk, tell me if this is dumb.
-Do we want to decide ahead of time whose in what and have a plan of action or just roll with it towards a predetermined conclusion? It would definitely serve us, whether we plan it out bit by bit or not, to know where we're headed towards. Some things like slashers have a definite trope kind of end like a lot of people die stupidly and eventually the slasher dies or ghost stuff that ends with an exorcism or something. Which, we don't have to follow these or anything, but we should just figure out how each genre ought to end. If we pick all our genres ahead of time and decide who's doing what, then we can plan it early and if we just go with the flow we can discuss it while we play it.
-Aside from possibly filling out eac other's cast of characters, do we want our 'main characters' to be able to go into multiple genres or just stick with one per 'main' and as many as you want as 'the monster'? Whatever seems least overwhelming to everybody.
-Genres! Lay 'em on me. Anything you'd like to play out.
-Did I forget anything glaringly important about logistics? Any and all of my ideas are up for changing so if you don't like something and have another suggestion, let me know!
And finally, Hocus Pocus. I can't stream it anywhere, but I can upload it to gdrive for anyone who wants it, and we can kinda just watch it at the same time. I'll also try doing it as a private video on youtube and just sharing the links. Anyway, Friday at like 5p/7c/8e if that works for everyone who wants to watch it.
