"You just said he's not stupid," Cassie paused in her pacing and raised her eyebrows, "It would be really stupid to come to us. It's not just about him thinking he's not safe with us. He totally isn't. I mean, you're S.H.I.E.L.D., Teddy, I work for Tony. Wasn't Speed, like, captured in your hotel? For all he knew- for all we know- S.H.I.E.L.D. could use us to trap him." That was the explanation she'd come up with anyway, for why their friend hadn't come directly to them. He'd done the best he could, probably, in delivering the note.
"Anyway, I don't know where he'd go. Has he been making friends or...anything?" It made Cassie feel pretty guilty to have to ask that at all. Between the demands of her job, the school work with the tutor, and heroing in her down time she barely knew what was going on with her old teammates. Not that she'd ever been close to Speed in the first place, but she knew just as little about what Teddy and Billy were up to these days.
