Now Teddy was just feeling worse, that maybe his discomfort with Billy's brother was tainting how he was trying to understand the situation. Billy obviously had complete faith in him-- and Teddy did, too; he had trusted Speed as a reliable teammate for a long time, and he would still. He just didn't trust his motivations to be entirely noble, and he didn't trust that he wouldn't get himself into trouble again.
"Tommy's not stupid, though," Teddy pointed out aloud, trying to form his argument in the most compassionate way he could. "He knows what Magneto is like as much as the rest of us. And if he really was innocent, he'd be screaming that in General Fury's face, no running away, right? He would let someone just do that to him. He's not stupid."
Teddy's arm bent back to squeeze Billy to him, trying to assure him they were all on the same side. "It's just, I mean, we have to find him. And I don't know where else he would go if he doesn't think he's safe with us," he sighed. Okay, maybe he was a little hurt by that, too.
