The tweens, trickling out of their rooms at the (now obvious) noise and meteorological mishaps, pooled in a small group behind Jubilee and Husk, alternating between looking at the mess in the hallway, and staring out the window, some looking frightened, others, belligerent and attempting to be brave.
"What's going on?" one boy, about twelve years old, asked Paige. She bit her lip.
"Stay back," Jubilee instructed him, and, surprisingly, he listened. The others huddled close together, alternately looking at their teenaged mentors and at Blockbuster, his form filling the end of the hallway where he'd punched up through the floor from the section of tunnel only a few dozen feet from where Storm and Venom had collectively thrown him--this time, he was inside the building.
The black-haired girl regarded him casually, not allowing her trembling to show--this was her first "real" battle without the adult team (or at least Wolverine) to back her up.
"Paige, doll, what say we show this twerp who he's messin' with? Nobody busts into our house without knockin' first!" she exclaimed, and with that, threw a handful of explosive plasma into Blockbuster's eyes, momentarily blinding him.
