If Wanda felt uneasy about airplane take offs, she was downright terrified of the shuttle. As they were blasted upwards she kept her face turned away from the rest of the cabin, her eyes squeezed shut, fingernails dug into the arms of her chair. She did her best to think of anything to distract her. Her favorite books, movies, music, memories, walks on warm beaches and coffee in cafes and swimming pools. The last had her smiling and her smile became relieved when the shuttle broke the atmosphere and leveled out. After all, even if something happened in space, it wasn't like they could go crashing into anything, they would just drift. There was a period when she floated up against her restraints but soon gravity was restored in the cabins- of course S.H.I.E.L.D. would have a device for that- and she unhooked herself from her seat and stood and stretched.
That wasn't as terrible as she'd expected. She'd been uneasy about going at all as the day drew near. It wasn't just fear for the journey or the mission itself, though that would certainly be dangerous, it was an unwillingness to leave affairs in such disarray on earth. There was still Tommy locked up. There was worry for Billy- every time she left the city he seemed to get kidnapped. She'd made him promise to be safe and made Teddy promise to look after him and given them both an exorbitant amount of cash for the week and displayed general motherly anxiety. At least, if she survived this mission, she would have a great surprise for the boys when she got home. She'd bought them an apartment before she'd left and everything ought to have been ready in it by the time she got back. It was large and lavish and was in walking distance of Stark Towers. It even had extra bedrooms in case Tommy...well, it had guest rooms.
Thoughts of Tommy and the boys wiped the smile from her face and, melancholy, she dropped back into her seat and turned to lift the shade over it and stare out the cabin window. She nearly gasped as she stared down at the earth, unimaginably breathtaking. Well. That was certainly a view she'd never seen before.
