"I wasn't," she told him, shaking her head slowly. "I was in China, with Teddy, for his first S.H.I.E.L.D. mission. I was out of the country, Tommy. I wouldn't lie to you about that." Wanda bit her lip and tried to quell her tears but they continued to fall as she stared at him. She wished there was something, anything, she could do but at the moment she was virtually powerless to help him and though part of her mind urged her to break him out another part reminded her that this very well could be true. He could have been lying, could still be lying, still trying to use her for her sympathy. It was a thought she could bear little more than the sight of his ruined state. She didn't have to bear it much longer, however, because one of the agents tapped her on the shoulder and let her know that it was time to leave. When she tried to protest they said the order was directly from General Fury. Wanda shot a glare at one of the security cameras, mumbled a goodbye and another apology to Tommy, and departing. Fury probably thought she would do something stupid if she stayed any longer. He was probably right.
