Nick Fury stood at the edge of the crowd on this platform in Delhi, calmly waiting, completely out of place amongst the natives with his black trench coat and combat boots. It hadn't been difficult to figure out where his quarry had been after their escape. Gunshots fired on a boat in Srinagar, police searching for two strangely attired white males with firearms, the theft of a car battery, a hostage. Really, not an average day for the city. When Nick and his agents arrived in Srinagar, however, it was to find that Tony and Billy were apparently gone from the city and the boat they'd been on was a flaming smoking ruin. Billy could've done that, Nick would have to ask when he saw the kid. It took some time but Nick finally found someone who had witnessed two people matching Stark and Kaplan's descriptions hopping on a train headed south.
Fury's first instinct was the stop the train and haul them out, but he really didn't have jurisdiction here and he had to handle this quietly so instead he behaved like a boss, as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. should, and delegated. Agents on the train undercover to protect Stark and Kaplan for the remainder of their journey if need be. A plane fueled and ready at the nearest airport to take them back to the states. A S.H.I.E.L.D. van waiting outside the station chock full of hi-tech medical equipment. Nick Fury stoic and patient and holding a bag from the McDonalds here in Delhi, where they didn't serve beef, but Nick figured the veggie burgers would almost taste the same. It was probably better than anything they'd had in days.
