What a boring night, that had been Cassie's thought when the first car lifted from the ground right outside the coffee shop she was sitting in, working on a homework assignment. Apparently, not so boring after all.
"New York," she sighed to herself as she launched herself from the booth she sat in and out the front door to an alleyway. Quickly she skittered out of her street clothes, her costume as ever underneath, and donned her mask. From there it was easy to follow the trail of destruction, though it took her awhile to discern who was fighting and even when she realized she could hardly keep up with them. When they smashed up a building she stopped below, dodging falling debris as pedestrians on the street screamed. Her own cry joined theirs when she saw the pair falling, too fast for her to catch. She raced to grappling pair when they hit the ground and with horror she saw that Peter wasn't moving and that man, thing, Venom, continued to pummel him.
"Lay off my boyfriend!" Stature snarled, already growing. Within moments she was rearing back a foot larger than Venom and kicking him as hard as she could away from Peter's prone form. In the next moment she was stooping to take Peter in her hands and escaping before the thing attacked. Not that she didn't think she could fight it, but Peter looked bad. Really bad. She hauled him off and shrank down so she was strong enough to carry him piggyback but not so large as to attract Venom's further attention. In another alleyway she put Peter down, shrank to normal size, and pulled out her phone to call Nick Fury. A hospital was too risky, but S.H.I.E.L.D. had medical facilities and they ought to help. Call made, Cassie then knelt by Peter and waited, anxiously, for the arrival of agents.
