Now it was Nick's turn to watch, leaning back in his seat with his beer in his hands and a twinkle in his eye. He watched her expression and her tight smile and though he tried to hold it in he burst into laughter. When he'd finished chuckling he apologized and then leaned forward, hands flat on the table, to stare at her with amusement. "Jessica, my mama taught me manners and while I usually ignore that, the one thing I will never be impolite about is when someone is nice enough to cook me a meal. Now I can sit here and eat every bite on this plate and pretend I love it. But by the look on your face, I don't think that's something you want to do." He sat back then, grinning, and took another sip of his beer. "We've got a few options here. We can order in, we can go out. Nice place, dive, whatever, I'll pay. Up to you."
