"Yeah, I will," Wanda answered, quickly, amazed at such an easy victory. She was rewarded with an even greater feeling of relief and her smile became easy again. She wasn't worried about telling Steve, Tony was the obstacle. That had been a surprisingly easy bridge to burn. But now they were left with the elephant in the room again and Wanda had run out of viable conversation subjects and the difficult one wasn't exactly simple to approach.
She bit her lower lip and stared at him, faltering without saying a word. Unconsciously she grasped her right hand with her left, plucking at the finger where she'd always worn the ring from Tony, accustomed to spinning it on her finger whenever she was thoughtful. The seconds passed and she wondered now how soon it would be before he tried to escape, what she could possibly say to make him stay.
