Letting Pepper out of his sight wasn't on Tony's agenda today, but keeping Elektra from stabbing anyone else became an unexpected priority. He was never good at sticking to the plan, anyway. He just threw a glance over his shoulder at his assistant, eyebrows raised and lips pursed, gesturing vaguely to Elektra and trying to assure Pepper this was just something he had to take care of quickly, and he would be right back and she wouldn't get kidnapped again. Probably.
He didn't really expect it to be that easy.
He wasn't going to try to explain to a woman who probably wore her sai in the bath how impolite it was to pull them on unsuspecting strangers, so Tony just shrugged, accepting her version of the events as it was. Not without a condescending pout, but he kept his words to himself. "I've been listening for any disasters that have your MO written all over them," he started instead, studying her for any tells. It was a challenge, with his hands shoved in his pockets for warmth and pedestrians just narrowly missing bumping into him. "I was starting to think you really had dropped off the radar." He wasn't really worried about her dying anymore. She seemed to bounce back from that sort of thing just fine.
