Mother fucker. Nick was shaken and a little horrified. He had been certain for one of the few times in his existence, that he was going to die. It was the helicarrier all over again. And then, it was the helicarrier because there was Wanda, that amazing girl, saving their lives. It was times like these that Miss Maximoff proved she was worth all that trouble.
Then the Hulk punched her and Nick was furious and he took a few steps towards her but stopped as the Kaplan kid appeared and proceeded to calm the Hulk. Christ. This was. Insane. This was up there with zombies and space aliens and all the other crazy shit Nick Fury had seen in over eight decades of life. As his agents swarmed forward towards Banner, Nick held up his hand to stop them, something compelling him to wait, to see. And there was Wanda again and then she and Banner were gone.
Fury didn't know what was happening. He didn't know where Wanda was taking Banner or what they were going to do with the monster, but this was very obviously planned. It was a plan that Nick knew nothing about, it was a breach of trust. Deep down Nick was relieved- relieved that Banner wasn't going to die and that he wasn't going to be the one to kill him. Perhaps that relief shone in his eye for just a split second as he stared hard at Iron Man.
That flicker of solace was was gone in an instant to be replaced by rage. Nick Fury was in a world of shit. He was going to have to take responsibility for this. For the destruction, and the deaths, and the insubordination of the Avengers and the question why didn't you handle the Hulk?
A crackling in his ear took his attention away from Stark and he was told that a spacecraft was being launched and it was confirmed that the Hulk was on board. His glare swiveled back to the metal man. I hope you know what you're doing, Stark he thought as he murmured the command that would cut his comm link with Iron Man.
