Teddy's gaze had dropped to the table at Wanda's statement, remaining on the tablecloth through the awkward question and only flicking to Tommy graciously for his defense of their friend. His fiery determination was awkward and annoying when Teddy didn't understand the cause, but sometimes appreciable.
He didn't expect General Fury not to appreciate it so much. Teddy's cheeks reddened, and he threw an apologetic glance in Wanda's general direction, not really looking up to her face. There was probably a better way to deliver that information, and Tommy was right; Cassie should have been the one to have the discussion with her. If it wasn't entirely fair to Wanda, it would have been only fair to Cassie.
But General Fury's callousness certainly did not call for ruining Wanda's hard work, and Tommy's determination stopped being appreciable. "Don't," he snapped at Tommy, a threat in the tension in his jaw and the way his eye took on a green hue, but it was watery, like he might just as soon cry. "Please."
