Billy had tried to dress up, thinking of how his real (real?) mother would fuss over him on occasions like this, and he combed his fingers anxiously through his hair for the millionth time. He wanted things to go well. Tommy and Mum just had to get along. Nothing could go wrong this time. Another part of him felt guilty, having this family dinner when he should be out looking for Eli and Kate. God only knew what had happened to them.
