She had to go and say just the thing Teddy was concerned about. Slowly, he sunk back into the chair, picking at the fabric of the arm, finding the weave loose from wear; imperfection in this honey-glazed heaven. "I don't want to...I don't want to take Billy away from that, and I don't want him to think I want that or that he's obligated or anything, but I don't..." he started to explain, and suddenly flushed, realizing he was considering something like a marriage proposal the sort of commitment this deal meant out of either of them, which totally wasn't what he intended. At all. So it made it hard for him to continue, words forced out with his eyes on his hand still rubbing over the arm of the chair.
"I don't know if, I mean-- it really isn't worth it, giving him up for this," he said, finishing with his lips pursed, hoping Cassie would understand all of the sides of that. At least, all the ones Teddy had managed to consider. And while, for Teddy, Billy carried the most weight in this decision (as much as he wouldn't admit that, in so many words), he did mean Cassie, too, and Kate and Eli, wherever they were, and even Tommy. He hoped she could see it from their side, too.
