Rogue swallowed, not surprised by the comment, but moreso unsure as to what she would do. She could go home or walk out and return to Sinister and the Marauders. It was hard for her to weigh out what each had done for her or what action would suffer less consequences if there was such a way. They promised her help and acceptance, but one preached kindness and the other horrid torture. Where did that leave her? It all depended on herself and she knew that. What Rogue was, is, an engima...even to herself. The decision rested on her incapable shoulders and to both sides she would always be a traitor.
Oddly, at this point she thought of Remy and how he would view her. Would it re-establish that black and white scenario they had at the beginning? Her good and him bad? Would it make it easier for him to hate her now? He already despised her and for that she couldn't blame him. She had attacked his father and betrayed the cause. She had called him 'swamp boy' and all the while regretting it inside.
The waitress came and she mumbled something about 'just coffee' before the blonde woman darted off again into the back. Rogue counted the seconds in a weak attempt to distract herself from the pending decision before her. It wasn't even thirty when the woman returned, leaving her with sugar and creamer with a swift 'there you go'. In the past, Rogue had served as a waitress in a road cafe during her teenage years, back when she was with Mystique. She thought idly about going back, but it was impossible for her to stay out of the fight for long. Sooner or later it pulled up right to your front door and you have to either get in or rise to defend what you had. So, what would she do?
" Either way, I betray someone", she said quietly, pulling the cup closer and sipping from the edge, a smudge of mauve lipstick where she had drank. "What makes one cause so much better then the other, Professor? How do I know going with you will be the right choice?" She pulled at her gloves, adjusting them around her slender wrists. "I make enemies wherever I go...perhaps I shouldn't chose any side."
