Cassie stared around at them all, opening her mouth to make objections each time one finished and scowling as soon as the next started. She'd expected opposition, of course, but she hadn't expected they would treat her like a child. By herself? Confused? Protecting? She'd managed better than any of them by herself for months, without anyone to pamper her or take care of her and she'd done just fine! How dare they act this way! Her expression was downright wrathful and she found that rather than any coherent argument all she managed was a jumbled stammer. To highlight her unutterable anger she slammed her palms on the table before grabbing her bag and forcefully maneuvered herself over Tommy and out of the booth. Without another glance back she stormed out of the diner. And now that she was gone, she thought with satisfaction, they would have to pay for that pie.
