Teddy had pursed his lips since Billy mentioned the war, dropping his head sheepishly and focusing on his pie. They were getting along, they didn't really need to talk about 'splitting up', right? They still made a good team. He would rather let that be.
Tommy didn't help much. Now with Cassie's attitude added to Teddy's discomfort, he could barely enjoy his pie anymore. He pushed some crumbs around the plate with his fork before managing to point out, "We've all been...coping, Cass." Not that Tommy's way of coping wasn't particularly well-guided, but it was his way. Teddy's gaze darted to Tommy then, eyebrows raised, just hoping he wasn't going to make this any worse by trying to justify himself. Teddy could already sense that coming out wrong, and would rather defuse the situation.
