When he handed her her ring back, he slid his helmet behind him, letting it drop onto the roof so he could shuffle closer, but that was as far as he got. He kept his arm tight to his body and very carefully returned the ring pinched between two fingers, and he left her to combat her tears on her own. That wasn't his place. This wasn't the baby Cassie he knew. As much as he was starting to believe she was someone's baby.
