She had gone above and beyond showing how well she studied this part, so Stature obviously knew the answer to that question. At first, after a skeptical beat, Tony just went, "Yup," and his lips remained pressed together with the last sound, like they weren't about to come unstuck for any further answers. But he was thinking about them, as much as he leaned over with his head on his shoulder and tapped idly at his thigh like he was counting the seconds, and slowly his expression relaxed into that of distant contemplation.
"When your dad brought you around headquarters, God, that was...before Carol quit, she just loved you, and I was still fucking..." he found himself saying, trailing off with his nose wrinkled and shooting Cassie an apologetic glance for the language. "It was strange how much it changed around there when you were in the building," he decided to finish, breathing a laugh that did nothing to keep a smile on his face. What was it hurting, anyway, telling her this stuff? She already knew. Tony didn't really talk to anyone else about...anything. Maybe saying 'you' felt a little awkward, in retrospect, but it came so naturally with her sitting there.
