The tesseract system was an ingenious thing. Alien technology Sinister gained access to in the nineteen twenties. With its creators gone to who knows where, the machinery and programing was simply waiting for someone to lay claim to it. But only those with telepathic abilities could use it without going insane. So while several had tried to become its master prior to its discovery by Sinister, he was the one to claim the prize.
It was tied to his mind as surely as his hand to his arm. Able to open portals for him to any coordinates in the system, dictated by the locations he himself had been to before. Others could only access the tesseracts at his discretion and through the devices he programed for such use.
It was also a semi-intelligent system. So when Rogue activated the one way signal that was supposed to take her to the common area of the lab, and the system recognized the life signs of the children who were flagged as priority clearance, instead of sending them to the pre-programed location that would have been an oxygenless vaccum, it re-routed them to the central core three platforms above Sinister's location.
The master of house was once again at his computer banks, reinitializing the the non-essential systems and returning his lab to proper order.
After a few moments of silence, his voice rumbled up to them, "Welcome back. You are earlier than I anticipated. The children's quarters are just now being flooded with oxygen. It will be a few more minutes until they can be escorted back."
Bethany moved to the edge of the platform and waved down, "Hello Father!"
His head turned then, looking up at them finally and a smirk could be seen, "Hello Benthany. Have you been a good girl?"
"Yes!"
"NO!" Jacob yelled, moving to lay down and look over the edge.
"Yes I have!"
"No you haven't"
"Yes I have."
"No you haven't."
A loud clap gained their attention. Sinister was now frowning, "This is not the time for such antics. Silence the both of you."
Bethany stuck her tongue out at Jacob after the doctor turned back to his work, "And you Rogue, how have you been?"
