Tony'd sigh meant she'd failed whatever test he'd just put to her. Clicking her tongue in irritation, Wanda rose and laid the clothes on the chair then closed the gap between them. "Of course I remember Pancake day, who could forget?" Pancake day was a disaster, and pancakes had not at all made up for what the day had become. Wanda rolled her eyes at the memory and reached up to cautiously push at his hair with her fingertips to demonstrate what she'd failed to express aloud. "Not all gifts come with strings attached."
Tony's hair seemed mostly compliant, easily pushed forwards and upwards, though she supposed he'd have to put something in it to make it do anything really aerodynamic. Wanda was quiet for a moment, focused, wondering if he would understand the purpose of her gifts or think she was being silly. Especially when he could simply give them all whatever money could buy.
"Growing up with little, we made do with what we had. Gifts were usually something we made. Winter and cold meant scarves and hats and sweaters from Aunts and our Grandmothers. But it was nice." She smiled faintly, dropped her gaze to meet his for a moment, then returned it to his hair. "Knowing someone spent that time to make something just for you. It's love, and it's family. And-" she stepped back and dropped her hands, shrugged. It felt stupid to say it. "You and me, and the others. We're a family now. That's all."
