Crouched over, Jessica waited until Nick was gone to push herself unsteadily back up to her feet. She held her injured arm up to her chest and wrapped the other carefully over her bleeding torso, spat the alien liquids that had gotten into her mouth with disgust. Not her shining moment. Tears stung the corners of her eyes as she hunched over from the pain and caught her breath. She didn't wait around for the medic, and after the vertigo from the energy drain passed, she took to the nearest alleyway to regain enough strength to get back to her motel.
