With the creature distracted, Wanda dropped her shield with relief and slumped against the cracked glass of the door, back aching and body trembling from fear and adrenaline. The thought crossed her mind that she could run now, that the people in the cafe were safe and she and Daimon could escape, despite the stragglers still being chased in the streets. You owe them nothing, she told herself, but almost as soon as she thought it, she groaned and darted to Daimon's side instead of trying to flee. Now that she was in the middle of it, she couldn't just go and let those things keep running rampant, maiming and killing.
The beast that Daimon deprived it's meal turned to him with a howl of frustration and stamped at the ground before running at the motionless pair, still unaware of the danger it was in from what it thought would be easy prey. A crimson light surrounded its body and the spiky rhino found its powerful legs beating wildly at empty air as Wanda's energy lifted it over the rooftops, then sent it crashing down hard into the asphalt. Startled, the creature writhed in the small crater it's body had made, trumpeting in pain. Surprised that any thing here could hurt them, a few other monsters turned back in distraction from their hunt, preparing to attack the threat.
