"No, I was just in the neighborhood," she shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant, and added, "With cookies." But he was right, and she couldn't pretend otherwise, so she laughed self-consciously. "All the trouble I went through to get you home, I just wanted to make sure the afternoon wasn't a waste," Wanda teased him, rather than admit that she'd spent an inordinate amount of time over the past week worrying over a stranger she never intended to see again. "It's good that you're alright," she conceded and stepped out of the elevator first, a small smile on her face.
