Davos was a lot more acrobatic than Danny remembered. He'd barely managed to turn to watch his opponent's progress through the air before he was getting a punch to the face he couldn't block that knocked him off his feet bust open his nose. Danny went down again and laid there for several moments, his vision black around the edges as he stared at his blood dripping onto the floor. It kept changing colors, swirled around into a shape, the same one burned onto his chest. Oh yeah. Here he was wasting time with regular old kung fu when he should've been relying more on his super powers. A small lucid part of his brain knew that diverting his chi powers would make this worse, but he couldn't comprehend, and he gathered his energy again with more power now, waiting for Davos's next move before he made his strike.
