It was a relief to be somewhere other than the street in front of Lee's place and to be out of his own penthouse. Since taking up residence there yesterday, Lee had made it his mission to be as difficult as possible. So Danny used his invitation, brought Lee as his plus one, and they were both happy with the arrangement. He figured the professor would be safe enough here; there were likely to be a few mob bosses in attendance (there usually were at these kind of things), and not too many of them were on friendly terms with Ricadonna. She may have been cowardly enough to send assassins to an old man in his home, but Danny doubted she'd pull the same stunt in a public venue populated by enemies with the will and means to bring down her operations. It was also a good opportunity to see if anybody in attendance might have some info on where she'd gone to ground. Sometimes the enemy of your enemy could be your friend. Wing was always at home in a museum, so Danny left him to discuss art while he went around the room to rub shoulders with with New York's socialites.
