Nick couldn't help but blame himself for what happened next. If he hadn't listened to Hellstrom and stopped the energy that kept the demon neutralized, hadn't freed Wanda's neck and let it have an opening to hurt her like that and, more importantly, given it all these opportunities to regain its strength. He clutched Jess's arm, scowling through everything, cursing himself and Wanda and Hellstrom for every fucking thing going wrong here. It wasn't much of a surprise, really, when the thing got itself free. Whatever Daimon was doing with the blood had the thing desperate enough to keep its mouth shut, and Fury couldn't help but think that it was plotting something, why would it go without a fight? Strange black ropes of energy were being drawn out of Wanda's mouth when, with a sudden animal roar, it rushed back down her throat and her body tensed, struggling against the restraints.
Fury was already in motion before the bonds cracked and, when they broke, he raised his arm and sent a wild burst of electricity towards Wanda, the bolts arced on the metal of the table in all directions, narrowly missing Wanda as the demon rolled her to its feet. Nick unleashed a choice string of expletives and recharged his arm to take another shot before the thing went after any of them or tried to make an escape.
