Jessica snorted in response, she had no idea. Soul had squirmed its way into her vocabulary and yet all she knew was that not having one was bad news. Magic was a complete mystery to Jessica, she couldn't even open up one of those Latin tomes without getting a headache. Magic was beyond her, even with the little she could make sense of, and Tony was right--there was no way they could have foreseen tonight's events. She swallowed back more tears and nodded, not any more sure of how else to do with them than Tony did. He'd managed to distract her at least, got her thinking about the positive things she had to look forward to. Like a shower. Jessica nodded and stuck close by his side as they walked out, a hand gently pressed against her bandaged ribs as if to help keep them in place. She smelled (and looked) absolutely vile. Iron Man was blissfully unaware, or was being uncharacteristically polite. Either way, she hadn't doubted for a second that he would come. But she did want him to know that she appreciated him. Affection was probably never going to be a strong skill of hers, but hugging Tony didn't feel as foreign to their relationship now. That wasn't to say it still couldn't get weird. Maybe he wouldn't notice that she had her arm around him too.
