Nick realized it was preferential treatment, but he also realized that his immediate concern was dealing with the repercussions of what she'd done. It was simply easier to keep her out of trouble while he put out the fires. If some token punishment was called for later, they would deal with that then.
Nick came to the bed and unlocked the cuffs that held her there, then moved towards the door to call for her baby and friend, but paused before he'd opened it and turned back to her. "It's going to be okay," he promised, and then (as if he had to really consider it) held an arm open to her.
