"They did," he answered, and repeated what he'd told her earlier about why he'd known that it wasn't the MWR in her apartment, then pointed out that he'd told her when she'd kicked him out that she couldn't be sure it was the MWR mutants who'd broken in. Wicked's defensiveness didn't change anything, and he understood her frustration, so Nick chose not to pursue the subject any further.
"After what you did, I'd get a lot of opposition from my people. I'll keep you in the loop from now on, but I don't know about field ops" he said, but he looked thoughtful. It wasn't exactly a hard no. Nick sighed. "Look, I know you can help but after this, how the fuck do I know you won't fly off the handle again and hurt a mission? Get other agents killed? People may understand what you did, as a mother, but they're not going to want someone potentially unstable in the field with them. You'll have to earn trust, Wicked.
