I was angry with my foe: Characters: Magneto and Kitty and maybe like NPC Brotherhood Setting: Genosha Content: Violence Summary: Kitty makes her escape
Whatever beauty the tropical island of Genosha had to offer was lost on Kitty, imprisoned for months in Magnus's lately rebuilt home. Even the charms of this manor (more appropriate to the climate and geography than his last) were a mystery to her, locked in a small windowless room somewhere in the depths of the house. She might as well have been in the underground cells for all the difference it made in her captivity, and the only reason she wasn't was because the wireless internet reception down there was shoddy. She was here for a purpose, after all, and Kitty was allowed to do her work on the laptop and hard-drives brought into her little prison for her every day.
In all the time she'd been held there, Kitty had seen maybe three people, and Magneto was not one of them. There was the guard at her door (who also walked her down a hall to a bathroom, but never spoke to her), the reptilian-looking mutant who brought her food and any tech she needed for her work then delivered the fruits of her labor to Magneto, and the man in a lab coat who administered her mutant gene suppressant shot every day. The daily visits of the third man were a necessary hassle; her abilities had shut down every electronic mutant collar they'd tried to put on her. The serum had a limited activation, so that meant getting the injection at the same time everyday. There was little margin for error or else the suppressant's effects could potentially weaken and Kitty could regain her powers.
Like clockwork he'd appeared today, silent- she was rarely spoken to, probably at Magneto's request- but with a nod of greeting before he set to work loading a syringe with serum. Even if the thought crossed her mind to attack him, the line of a weapon clipped to the belt under his coat was as much a threat to her as his likely mutant powers. There was a much worse threat to worry about today. He was half finished filling the syringe when the door burst open on its hinges and the man froze and took an unconscious step backwards. Magnus stood there, his eyes fixed on Kitty, his expression enraged. "Did you think-" he began in a low dangerous voice, "I wouldn't find out?"
