Jasper probably, definitely deserved that lecture, but it had been a long time since he'd been on the wrong end of one from Fury and he'd barely recovered from the last trial of his day. All at once, he looked about as cowed and horrified as the cat in his cage, whose ears were back flat on his head and elbows up over his haunches as he took a first, inquisitive step into this new place. Jasper, meanwhile, herded the resistant goat through Fury's door, keeping the animal managed between his knees so it didn't go galloping around the apartment like it had all over the city.
"I didn't want him in the truck..." he tried to excuse, well passed his chance so quietly, to the animal rather than Fury as he tried to keep it relaxed with a pat to its neck. He probably wasn't doing it right. "You're right, it won't happen again, sir" he said more confidently. This shouldn't have been a lesson he had to learn, but now he had and Jasper didn't suspect events to conspire so against him. The cat suddenly bolted away, losing his footing on the slick floors and skidding into the far wall before springing out of sight down the hall. This was going to be an interesting relationship.
