Loki sauntered down the streets of New York with an air of triumph, not a single person seemed to notice him, other than to give him an admiring look and he could not really blame them for that. No person looked at him with recognition, none looked at him with fear or loathing, he was finally free.

There was a faint vibration in the air as Loki approached the ancient tomb which had been placed reverently on a dais at the far end of the room. The cavern itself was lit with an almost eerie green glow. How fitting. The book was centuries old and to touch its pages made the Mages skin tingle with anticipation.
The Grimoire was a myth wrapped in a rumor, wrapped in a mystery. Said to have been written by lady death herself, stolen by one naive to its power. In it, it was said to contain spells that could bring the downfall of all life in the universe. No one knew of its existence beyond a select few, a group which Loki was now the soul member of, as he'd killed the rest in order to obtain its location. A part of him wondered if he should feel guilty, but that was not in his nature, not anymore. He was Loki and Loki alone. No longer would he be Loki of Asgard, nor of Jotuunheimr. He would no longer be shackled or weighted with the burden of other peoples expectations.
He would be free.
The fallen prince drew back his hood and opened the cover of the book (bound in the skin of a race long since extinct), then with a soft wave of his hand, a small breeze picked up and sent the pages flying until they stopped on the spell he required.
Some would say this was drastic measures, but he could only see it as necessary. He had done too much, hurt too many and destroyed too much. He could never be forgiven for his crimes.
Better he be forgotten.
~*~ End Flashback ~*~

Now the only knowledge that existed of him were the myths in Earth's history. However never let it be said that the Trickster didn't always have a plan.
He entered the doors of the S.H.I.E.L.D base building...
