"Do we really need one?" Jessica smirked and accepted Wanda's hug. Affection would probably never be one of her strengths, but she appreciated the gesture, and held up the box of strawberries for her. "I bring you an added bonus," she announced, then set them back onto the nicely spread on the coffee table. It would probably be better not to encourage any dessert before dinner, but knowing that they had all of this dessert to look forward to was enough to curve the temptation. Possibly.
She took a moment again to admire Wanda's work before she stood up, be right back, and disappeared into the back, returning moments later dressed down in her favorite lazy shorts and a sweat shirt. The date couldn't go on while Jessica was still in the wrong attire. Grinning, she plopped back down, opened up a bottle and poured them their wine. "Happy Valentine's day," she toasted, lifting up her glass after handing Wanda hers. If someone had told her that one day she'd be curled up on a couch with her best friend, drinking wine, genuinely happy in that moment, she would have laughed in their face. She could hardly believe it now, and shook her head, smiling to herself while she reached out for the remote. "Are we ready?"
