"Burning it down?" Wanda asked brightly, without missing a beat. She met Jessica's gaze suppressed a grin when the real estate agent stopped her sales spiel mid-sentence with a strangled noise that she quickly tried to cover up with a nervous laugh. Probably not the best thing to joke about given their public image at the moment.
"Only kidding," Wanda assured her. The woman didn't look particularly convinced. She turned away from the agent to examine the kitchen. While she could very easily imagine accidentally burning it down, Wanda could see what Jessica meant. Marble counter tops were a small price to pay for all this space and an induction range. They could make real culinary masterpieces on that thing, like scrambled eggs or macaroni pasta and cheese (in the box, not the microwaveable kind).
"If you'll just follow me this way," the realtor interrupted Wanda's thoughts, apparently keen to get the ladies out of the kitchen. She led them out to the balcony and Wanda went to the railing to look out over the city. A little table out here, some plants, they could have dinner outside when the weather was nice, drink coffee here in the morning. It was exactly what they were looking for and, like Jessica, she wondered if it was too good to be true.
