The save wasn't much more comfortable for Jasper, who had to restrict his anxiety to a brilliant blush and hands carefully held away from Misty in case they had just reached their threshold of physical intimacy. The illusion wouldn't hold up if she started threatening him, and so far it was working; the Madame had released him, gracious in defeat, laughing melodiously and leaving Jasper with a final pat to his burning cheek and the suggestion that he could always ask her for tips with a nod Misty's way. Jasper wasn't really sure what that meant, but he didn't want to meet Misty's eye, only blushing further as Madame Victoria and her friends went laughing onto their next target.
"I brought..." he said, clutching the box between them and losing steam before he weakly finished, "day two." Yesterday had been eclairs, today it was peach tarts in the box, but now Jasper was second guessing his dedication to Misty's birthday and wishing every birthday was as manageable as Colleen's 30th. The cruise made it all seem like a very big deal, but Jasper didn't want her to think he was actually angling to propose here. "For..." he added, gesturing toward Colleen, not just Misty, this was to be enjoyed as a group, look she was waiting.
