~H4H Interview
No amount of makeup in the world, however artfully applied for her by Kate, was going to make Cassie look like she hadn't been up all night. Or like she didn't have a black eye courtesy of the jerk she and Kate went after last night. On the upside, at least she wouldn't get as many questions working here about weird bruises as she did back at Starkbucks. Getting busted up was probably par for the course for these ladies. She didn't even try to hide her identity since she got the impression they knew exactly who she was and her domino mask wasn't going to change that (though in retrospect it would've helped a lot with the shiner around her eye).
After convincing the owner of the Chinese restaurant that she had an appointment upstairs- which took way longer than it should have and required her to buy some spring rolls- she was directed to the back and up a dark stairwell to a frosted door with Nightwing Restorations printed on it. Cassie knocked lightly then opened it up, stopping short in the doorway to take it all in.
On the one hand it looked kind of like she would've figured, but on the other there were some touches she didn't really expect. Like the framed photo near the door of Misty and Colleen (the Daughters of the Dragon as they were apparently nicknamed; she'd done some Googling) with a trophy they'd won in a roller disco act. Or the can of Fancy Feast balanced on the arm of a rickety sofa. Or Agent Sitwell behind the receptionist's desk.
"Uh-" she began and approached him cautiously, smart enough to still be wary of the hissing fanged creeper who'd tasered and kidnapped her. "What are you doing here?" No, that was kind of rude for an interview. She quickly added, "I mean, aren't you S.H.I.E.L.D.?" What, did he moonlight as their secretary or something? Weird.
