"I was there," he answered and his face fell. "It was-" he shook his head, "It was terrible." There wasn't a whole lot more he could say about it, either. He hated even thinking about it because, even knowing he'd done his best to get people out of there, it hadn't felt like enough. He felt powerless to Magneto and the only real and the only consolation to that was that he knew he wasn't alone in the feeling. Calvin, however, apparently didn't share it and that was all good and well for him, but Kurt wasn't about to round up his few X-Men and storm the beaches of Genosha. He wasn't that stupid. So he just nodded- at the very least, he agreed with Calvin's sentiment, even if he wasn't going to act on it at the moment.
Calvin's next words brought the smile back to his face and he shook his head. "That is what I meant, the putting on a uniform and 'punching threw walls.' I don't think you're teacher material and I wouldn't trust you in the garden." A little honesty wouldn't hurt, so long as Calvin realized it was in jest and didn't get offended. Kurt never knew what was going to offend him. He also didn't know if offering Calvin a place on the team again was a good idea with all the problems with Hammer, but it really felt wrong not to. Calvin had earned it, after all, in his own way.
