Although it was a nice diversion in and of itself, a wedding was also a nice stage for a diversion, particularly when you needed to simultaneously keep the attention of those in attendance while drawing the attention of the authorities. The massacre and kidnapping that would begin at the U.N. in- Magnus checked his watch as he rode the elevator up to the roof- ten minutes would be over before anyone realized what had happened. His people would be long gone before help could arrive and, meanwhile, Magneto would be celebrating the joyous occasion of this, his only son's wedding.
On the roof he stepped out, straightened his tie, and took a flute of champagne from a passing tray with his free hand, his helmet tucked into the crook of his arm. He put that on as he strolled towards the tent where most of the guests were gathered with, likely, the bride and groom. He'd missed the ceremony and he was a late for the reception, but what could they expect when he hadn't had an invitation? An impolite oversight on their parts, but it was better he was late than never. He came through the flap of the tent with his glass raised high as all the silverware in the room rose at once to clang loudly against the side of glasses.
Magneto's voice cut over the confused silence that followed. "I would like to make a toast to my son and his new bride. I couldn't be prouder. May you remember and cherish this day forever." As Magnus took a sip from his champagne the cutlery still suspended in the air flew through the room, embedded into people's bodies. He put an electromagnetic shield around himself and blocked the door, still sipping from his glass as he watched the carnage. Other metal in the tent rose through the air to reshape itself into jagged pieces that zipped around in search of targets. A smile crept over him face as a gush of blood from a woman's neck sprayed the bride's gown and he finished his speech with a murmured, "I certainly know I will." He was glad he could make it. What a lovely reception.
