When Pepper appeared Wanda smirked to herself, amused at how both Tonys immediately stilled at her command; nice to see some things were the same in any universe. As Tony made his plea, Wanda's attention turned to the trapped Tony and his fire. Although he'd already ended his experiment, she waved her hand and doused him with a flood of chilly water from out of thin air for good measure. Like punishing a naughty puppy with a spritz from a water bottle, she wanted to discourage him from any further attempts to break the barrier. There was nowhere for him to go, it was best to accept that and behave himself.
As the Tony not drenched in an energy bubble made his plea, and Pepper began her question, Wanda turned back to them and frowned. It wasn't that she distrusted Pepper, but the fewer people who knew about Nick's machine, the better. "It was magic," she blurted apologetically, the first good excuse to pop into her head. Magic was always the best excuse, people usually seemed unnerved by it and rarely questioned it. "Gone wrong. I opened a portal and he came out." She shot Tony a look, hoping he would play along.
