Another day, another timeline Characters: Teddy (Capt Marvel aka Hulkling) & Magneto (master_magnus) Setting: A few days ago, upon Teddy's arrival. Content: TBD Summary: Teddy unwittingly reaches his destination. And by reaches I mean unceremoniously crash lands on Genosha.
He had been hopping around the timestream for at least twelve weeks, by his estimation, but the nature of chronal anomalies and the erratic condition of the locator spell which kept pulling him after his own reality's Billy made it so he had already experienced some extremes of time dilation. In one reality, Billy had been gone for three years, which was impossible. In another, no time had passed at all, and there was the one time where he stood back in the shadows and watched the team as it massacred and Earth they had visited years ago.
Teddy remembered that one. It was only the third or fourth time they had engaged in the killing of innocents and the guilty alike, supposedly for "the greater good." Now, Teddy was the progeny of two fierce warrior cultures, so it might be argued that killing was in his blood on both sides. But the memory of how he had started to enjoy the battlelust was something that made him sick to his stomach while he watched. Why had he been sent back here? It didn't make sense, and they hadn't seen either him nor a second Billy that day, so he figured he might as well not intervene. What was done, was done. It was tempting to try and reason with himself and the rest of the team, though. The decision was taken from him, as Teddy felt the now familiar, nausea inducing tug in the pit of his stomach, and he was gone again.
It was a few time hops later that he made it to the current reality where his Billy currently resided as the Sorcerer Supreme. But he didn't know this. In fact, he didn't know much of anything any more.
The second to last jump had landed him in another timeline in which Billy had gone insane early on because when those Sons of the Serpent had threatened the Young Avengers with their nuclear weapons, Wiccan's loss of control had had a very different outcome than his 616 counterpart. The event had happened to those Young Avengers much later in their lives, and Billy had been a lot more powerful but also more unstable. Instead of rendering the terrorists comatose, he had turned them all into diamond statues, including his teammates and half the city. That Billy also ended up Sorcerer Supreme in his world. He had allowed Dr. Strange to take him under his wing after the incident, but he'd always planned to betray Strange and take his power so as to bring his Teddy back.
When Teddy landed in this world, something had scorched this Sorcerer Supreme bad enough that he confused him with Doom. He had a sick feeling it might have been his Billy. Regardless, this mad wizard decided he could somehow mind meld his frozen diamond Teddy with this living, breathing Teddy. In the magical process, Teddy's mind got scrambled and confused. He had some help from that world's remaining heroes in the form of a rescue, but not before some of his own memories were gone, and some had been mixed up or replaced entirely by that different Teddy's memories. Or was it by this Billy's memories of his Teddy. Bah! He hated time travel and alternate reality paradoxes.
He did literally land here, face down on a grassy plain. Teddy raised his head and saw some city rising beyond the trees. He could be anywhere, but he kind of hoped this was somewhere familiar, like maybe this timeline's Central Park. He'd just have to find out. So, here he was. So far, no evil!Billy's or monstrous!Teddy's had come out of the woodwork intent on ending him. Good. He had no idea where he was, or when he was, or in what corner of Earth he might be. At least he hoped he was on Earth. It was definitely Earth like. He reverted to his basic blond humanoid form and shapeshifted himself some civilian clothes. Yes, like most shapeshifters, Teddy was technically naked all the time. The only actual things he wore were his jewelry, his earrings and a couple of rings he hadn't lost along the way.
Once he passed for human, he'd push himself up and rise to his feet, then set out towards the nearest inhabited area.
