Characters: Wanda and Sitwell
Setting: Jasper's place!
Content: Entirely gentlemanly conduct.
Summary: Wanda is introduced to Jasper's problem.
There were so many levels of this whole situation that needed attentive management that within half an hour of the arranged meeting time, Sitwell had started to completely regret it. On the one hand, the first time he had any personal interaction with the Scarlet Witch she had been selfless and helpful and it had in its way coloured Sitwell's perception of her, if he hadn't already been inclined to assume as much due to the whole Actual Avenger thing. Unfortunately, she was an Actual Avenger, so inviting her to his home seemed like it was already stepping out of line and he was expected, if not by her than by himself at least, to be the perfect gentleman providing and comfortable experience. His girlfriend being an Avenger and personal friend of the Scarlet Witch didn't relieve any of that expectation; in fact, that only made it worse. If he didn't present well to his girlfriend's friends, he didn't come off well to his girlfriend, he ends up without a girlfriend. And he was kind of enjoying that part of his life, despite creating unexpected social minefields for him when he already couldn't trust himself to interact with women without coming off as a complete space case.
If he were keeping a tally (not that Sitwell would do that, that would be ridiculous, he wasn't ridiculous), that would be lady, friend of girlfriend, Avenger, in his house. So the final dramatic flair Sitwell was less than excited for was the reason for this whole, gut clenching experience. That was, that he was a vampire and would really like it if someone could make him not a vampire anymore. Not that the entire experience had been unpleasant, the people had had told had been very kind and open to the development and he didn't have much of a social life to miss during the day anyway, but it also hadn't been convenient or a welcome lifestyle change. Definite downgrade. So far, the only person who had been near enlightening about his new situation was Wicked, but her experience with ghosts wasn't completely comparable. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been very supportive and made the shift as comfortable as possible, on top of providing a team tasked specifically with discovering cures and stopgaps along the way, but the prognosis was still grim and Sitwell was still undead and drinking blood. So he came to call the Scarlet witch, selfless and helpful, magical healer and experienced occultist. Presumably. Luckily, also understanding because she agreed to take time out of her life to find his apartment without Sitwell divulging the details of his problem over the phone. Even Sitwell wouldn't have done that; he knew he had said some questionable things in his anxiety, he couldn't ever help himself and replaying them over in his mind incessantly made them sound worse with every passing minute he spent sitting on the edge of his freshly vacuumed couch. He had just convinced himself to stop, relax his shoulders, carefully adjust the magazines fanned out on the table when a knock on the door made him jump to attention. Oh, right, answer it!
