"You don't have the privilege of being stupid when the world is ending; that's what you do!" Iron Man shot back. This wasn't a conversation he wanted to be having at all, so he wasn't going to let her dictate the tone, too. If she thought she had to trap them in the middle of fucking nowhere to defend herself, then she could start with admitting to herself why she felt that way. But maybe Iron Man was finally wrong; maybe the Avengers Wanda knew didn't save the world. Between her and Hawkeye, it had been perfectly clear that they weren't on the same side once they had broken off for the West coast. Maybe on their team, they really believed intention made them any better than Magneto. Somehow, Tony just couldn't take her word for it.
"I don't know what you expect me to do. You want me to apologize? Fine, you got it. Is that going to be enough for you?" he asked, and he severely doubted it. Nothing was enough for her, she said it herself; he came when she called, he thought she was far more capable than she let on and somehow she didn't see how that might conflict with the idea that he had no faith in her. That wasn't his problem; she wasn't his responsibility.
