There was no science or psychology to it, and Wanda evidently wasn't telling-- even her incredibly mature offer to accept some kind of punishment didn't follow any pattern. That wasn't in her programming during the plague, when nothing had consequences because she didn't feel like it. Tony already made his call, anyway, that should have been crystal clear, but maybe while she was considering what Tony thought of the structure of the team and his obviously constant disappointment, she might take the time to wonder if she wasn't just the victim of his judgement.
