Whatever the inheritance was, it was incredibly generous of Ms. Van Dyne to continue to support the team when Stark obviously left them without resources. What kind of person did that? It sounded like a mess already, and Jasper didn't know if the Director should be informed or if he already knew and was keeping it to himself. Probably the latter, he didn't miss much. There wasn't really anything Jasper had prepared to say to that, so he tried, "I'm sorry," which didn't sound right at all out loud. He cleared his throat, twisting his cup in his hands and added, "...to, for-for being nervous." That didn't sound right, either, but he really was sorry that she was nervous in her own house. "Do you want me to look away?" he offered with a wry grin, pointing over his shoulder then shifting in his chair to turn profile to her, bringing his coffee to hold rigidly but with determination in front of him. "Or I could tell you something embarrassing and then nothing you do could possibly be worse than that, so..." Cutting her a sidelong glance, eyebrow raised with a hopeful smile, he waited for the laugh that would let him off of the hook for that one because he really did have a lot of embarrassing things that would level him down past non-threatening to probably subhuman.
