Might-have-beens were all good and well but they weren't doing anything in this situation but making Kurt angrier and he wasn't sure how much more of this he could take. This woman was so defensive, so self-righteous. If she hadn't already had his condemnation before simply by virtue of having been the mother who abandoned him, she had earned it now with her unsought excuses and what felt a lot like blame. He'd blamed himself enough for her disappearance from his life, he didn't need her doing it, too.
"And you've had thirty-six years to tell me so. I appreciate all your good intentions, mutter-" he practically spat the word. "Truly, I do. They've done so much for me through my life."
