The hug, while gladly reciprocated, was a fine opportunity to carry Cassie (so small it hardly demanded effort) back into the safety of the tight room and out of sight of the next agent that might wander by and pay for the crime of witnessing Cassie's emotions. Apologetically, Tony knelt on the unforgiving floor where he wasn't towering taller than her, arms still wrapped around her, then searched down her sides to hold her hips, nothing broken or out of place, was she ever ticklish?, was Nick actually feeding her?, and keep her still.
"That's okay, everything's fine," he repeated softly, understanding the reaction she didn't have to explain anymore. If he had seen what remained of the Tower without Cap cautioning him ahead of time, he would have thought the world had truly stopped turning. If he had to hear it from Nick, Tony would have assumed the opposite of whatever he tried to sell was true. "You don't really think a little thing like that would stop us," he smirked, raising his eyebrows for the insult. After all, he had faith in her. "We can get by without you, you know, if you have to go again..." That wasn't really how he had meant to frame it, but it was out now and Tony dropped his gaze, shutting his mouth and thinking, well, at least nothing changed.
